Honda and Casio have just collaborated on a special chronograph watch from the popular “Edifice” line. Inspired by some of Honda‘s most successful performance cars, the Edifice EQB-2000HR “Honda Racing Red Edition” will be released on September 30, with an MSRP of JP¥77,000 (US$563.19).
The tie-ins start with a black Alcantara strap with red stitching and a red lining, which is said to be inspired by the Alcantara seating on Honda’s Type R cars. Further solidifying the collaboration is the engraved Honda wordmark between the lugs and the HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) logo on the dial. The watch also celebrates the Suzuka Circuit‘s 60th birthday, which is commemorated with a special engraving on the caseback depicting the circuit’s outline and a stylized “60” logo.

The crossed red bars on the dial are said to be the finished in the same red paint as Honda’s “Red H” performance badge, which can be seen on cars like the Civic Type R. This red paint traces its roots to Honda’s very first performance car, the 1964 RA271 F1 racer, but it’s now become almost synonymous with any and all of Honda’s performance operations. Additional nods to their racing prowess come in the form of the lug design, which is said to be inspired by the suspension on formula cars.
The watch itself features subdials for lap deltas and world time, and it’s powered by a solar-assisted quartz movement. It also has Bluetooth connectivity, making it easy for lap times measured by the chronograph to be transferred to the Casio Watches app for easy data analysis.
