According to reports, a Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in hybrid (or PHEV) recently caught fire while it was undergoing testing in Japan. In another related incident, an unidentified electric car's lithium-ion batteries melted – the source of the Outlander fire was also the battery pack, which is made by GS Yuasa Corporation, in Japan.
