Just as it did in Europe a year ago , VW will offer the Touareg X limited-edition model in the U.S. to mark 10 years since the introduction of its first mid-size luxury SUV. Based on the TDI Clean Diesel Lux trim, the VW Touareg X will be built in a limited series of 1,000 units and will be priced from $56,170 (€41,435).

On the inside, there’s Vienna leather seating surfaces in Black Anthracite with complementing black headliner, Engineered Ebony Wood accents on the dashboard and doors, as well as piano black center console. Rounding out the interior upgrades are the aluminum doorsill scuff-plates with front illumination, aluminum-appearance pedal covers and ambient lighting.
Under the hood of the Touareg X you will find VW’s trusted 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 TDI Clean Diesel engine producing 240 horsepower and a 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) of torque. Paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission, the unit delivers and an EPA estimated 29 mpg (8.1 l/100 km) on the highway, giving a range of more than 700 highway miles (1,126 km) on each tank of diesel.
The Touareg X’s extensive list of standard equipment includes a panoramic powered sunroof, Keyless access with push-button start, Bi-Xenon headlights with LED Daytime Running Lights, front fog- and cornering lights, RNS 850 navigation system with an 8-inch color touchscreen, 60GB hard drive, and rearview camera, Bluetooth technology, Climatronic dual-zone air conditioning, 12-way powered and heated front seats and power adjustable lumbar, as well as a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel.
