The new BMW 7-Series and the equivalent i7 are the ultimate flagships of the Bavarian sedan range. We all know that the more practical Touring bodystyle is reserved for the smaller 3-Series and 5-Series but independent digital artist Theottle envisioned a 7-Series Touring in his latest renderings.
In order to make a more believable conversion, the designer used elements from the recently-revealed BMW XM. These include the part of the profile on the D-pillar and the rear windscreen with embedded BMW badges on the top corners.

The rest of the bodywork, the underpinnings, and the luxurious interior are carried over from the regular 7-Series, as is the case with all Touring variants of BMW models. Surprisingly the conversion works quite well, especially on the rear view thanks to the slim LED taillights. As for the sporty bumpers, the large alloy wheels, and the quad exhaust pipes, those are courtesy of the M760e trim.
This is not the first time we see a rendering of a BMW 7-Series Touring, as X-Tomi created his own version based on the previous generation back in 2015. Those fictional designs will surely remain in the digital world since no automaker seems interested in investing in an estate version of their full-size sedan. After all, this segment is not targeting family buyers, so adding extra volume at the back would serve no purpose and would only ruin the status quo of the equivalent sedan.
Looking back in automotive history, things didn’t end well for those who tried anything other than the traditional sedan or the popular SUV bodystyles for their premium flagships – remember the Renault Vel Satis that resulted in a commercial failure? Still, there is something deep inside us that calls for a rivalry between an Audi A8 Avant, a Mercedes-Benz S-Class Estate, and the aforementioned BMW 7-Series Touring.
