Dark trims are definitely becoming a trend in the automotive world, covering a wide spectrum of bodystyles and segments. The latest model to join the game is the VW Multivan, with the new “Edition” trim looking sportier than ever. In addition, VW announced a “Good Night” package for the van, transforming it into a lite camper.
The VW Multivan Edition features a Deep Black Pearl Effect finish on the grille, roof, and mirror caps, matching the black Toshima 18-inch alloy wheels. VW also added “Edition” decals on the profile and on the tailgate, tinted windows, and darkened LED taillights, complementing the standard IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights. All those features can be combined with a selection of contrasting exterior shades including Pure Gray, Candy White, Energetic Orange Metallic, Indium Grey Metallic, Mono Silver Metallic, and Reflex Silver Metallic.

In terms of equipment, the Multivan Edition fills the gap between the mid-spec Life and the flagship Style. It is available in two different lengths – 4,973 mm and 5,173 mm – with sliding doors on both sides and five, six, or seven seats inside the cabin. When the doors open, the Multivan silhouette with Edition lettering is projected on the ground. Other standard features include VW’s digital cockpit, an eight-speaker audio system, a total of six USB-C charging ports, air conditioning with an additional heater for the passengers, plus a few ADAS including the Intelligent Speed Assist.
More importantly, VW will offer a “Good Night” package which adds a fold-out bed inside the cabin and a “blackout option”. While this treatment is not as extensive as the California full-blown campervans, it makes the Multivan more suitable for camping trips, taking advantage of its spacious cabin. Unfortunately, VW didn’t include photos of the camper conversion package at this point.
The VW Multivan Edition is available with petrol (1.5 TSI or 2.0 TSI), diesel (2.0 TDI), or PHEV powertrains, all combined with a seven-speed DSG transmission. Depending on the variant, the model is priced between €51,747 ($51,756) and €57,465 ($57,475) in Germany, while prices of the electrified model have yet to be announced.
The new trim of the Multivan will be showcased at the IAA Transportation Show in Hannover between September 19 and 25, and is already available to order from the official website. VW Commerical vehicles’ stand in Hannover will also include the new Amarok, the Caddy Maxi Dark Label in CNG-burning TGI flavor, as well as the fully electric ID. Buzz and ID. Buzz Cargo.
