The idea of strapping a camera to one’s head may not be such an appealing concept to some, who may want to record certain events from a first-person perspective, and are put off by the cumbersome nature of the equipment. However, now there’s an easier way to do it, and I think it will greatly benefit the practice of car reviewing through video – Google Glass .
These nifty smart glasses, which are in fact a “wearable computer,” offer many capabilities courtesy of the Android platform that they run on, as well as granting the user the ability to shoot 720p video, which while not perfect, is adequate for small screens.
This could lead to a whole new style of reviews in years to come, if these glasses and others like them catch on. But for now let’s contend with one of the first actual such reviews we’ve seen recorded using Google Glass – the product being put to the test is the Tesla Model S.
Imagine this like some of the POV test drives that we posted, but with commentary and focused on individual parts of the car, and not necessarily while it’s moving – you can’t show off the infotainment system, for instance, while driving. Aside from the novel use of Google Glass, this review -courtesy of YouTube user Lon Siedman - also follows the trend that we’ve seen with the Model S – it’s very positive, finding few flaws.
