The BMW 3-Series nameplate represents a milestone in the automotive world. It has been used to designate two- and four-door compact sedans from the Bavarian manufacturer ever since they began phasing out the also very successful 2002 model , around about the year 1975.
Despite the fact that BMW decided it was a good idea to change all that for their latest generation car, and call the two-door variant the 4-Series , even though most say it’s an unwise move on their part, that does nothing to dilute the impressive history behind it.
