Hot on the heels of its announcement on the development of Civic Tourer for the 2014 season of the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), Honda has released the first visual of the revised Civic hatchback with which it will compete in the 2014 World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).
Honda made changes to the car to reflect the all-new technical regulations for the FIA WTCC that will come into effect next season.
Besides the updated body work that includes different wheel arch extensions for the larger diameter wheels and extended rear spoiler, the 2014 Civic WTCC will also have more power under its hood, though, Honda has yet to release details. The previous Civic racer sported a 1.6-liter turbocharged-four .
For the 2014 WTCC season, two works cars will be run by JAS Motorsport for Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro, while further Civics will be entered by private teams Zengo Motorsport and Proteam Racing for Hungary’s Norbert Michelisz and Moroccan Mehdi Bennani respectively.
