Following an announcement in August, GM has released additional details about expanding Super Cruise support to over 400,000 miles (643,738 km) of roadway in the United States and Canada.
While Super Cruise was already compatible with over 200,000 miles (321,869 km) of roads in North America, the first vehicles to take advantage of the significantly improved service area are full-size SUVs built on or after October 3rd of this year.
Among them are High Country and Premier versions of the 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, the 2023 GMC Yukon Denali Ultimate, and the 2023 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, and Escalade-V. These vehicles will start being delivered to customers later this month.
People who already have Super Cruise-equipped vehicles, with the VIP electrical architecture, can expect an over-the-air update in the coming months. Once downloaded and installed, they can enjoy hands-free driving on an extra 200,000 miles (321,869 km) of roadway.

This will be a welcome update as the number of compatible roads has significantly increased in the eastern half of the United States. The changes out west are less dramatic, but a number of states have seen significant improvements.
Canada hasn’t been forgotten either as the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, and Saskatchewan all gain new Super Cruise compatible roadway. In particular, it looks like drivers can now travel from Vancouver to Quebec City almost entirely hands-free.
