Porsche is continuing to develop the all-electric GT4 e-Performance and planning to bring it to a host of circuits around the world.
The German car manufacturer lifted the veil on the car last year. It is based on the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport but uses electric motors and battery technology from the Mission R, making it an absolute animal.
Indeed, the two electric motors of the GT4 e-Performance combine to produce as much as 1,073 hp (800 kW) in qualifying mode and 603 hp (450 kW) in simulated racing mode, all of which is available for 30 minutes, the same duration of a standard Carrera Cup race. Porsche claims the GT4 e-Performance can match the current-generation 911 GT3 Cup in terms of lap times and top speed.

It’s not just the motors that make the Porsche impressive as it is equipped with a trick battery with 900-volt technology and direct oil cooling. The battery can be charged from five to 80 per cent in just 15 minutes.
The world enjoyed its first taste of the car at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed. Porsche is bringing the car to other destinations throughout Europe, North America, and Asia up to 2024 as it continues to test and develop the racer.
“The GT4 e-Performance is setting the course for Porsche customer sport with electrically powered racing cars. In the first step we are presenting this concept to our partners around the world,” Project Manager Sales for the GT4 e-Performance, Oliver Schwab, described. “Working together with drivers, teams, event organizers, authorities and other interested parties, we will be gathering ideas for possible future racing formats from Porsche.”
Porsche wants to display the potential of the vehicle over the coming two years and to explore opportunities for future racing forms to entice customer teams, partners, and leaders from the racing world.
